History of the 7-V Ranch
The 7-V Ranch Outfitters is one of the oldest oufitting busnesses in the state of Montana. Glen and Peggy Childers were one of four pioneers in Montana to begin guiding hunters in the early 1950's. Things started out simple in the beginning, first bunkhouse type cabins, then a lodge and the first stand alone cabin. Throughout the years, more cabins were built, giving each hunting group their own privacy and a new lodge was erected to better serve clients.
Ross Childers has been a part of the 7-V Ranch since 1960 and continues to share his knowledge and experience with his son Chan, son-in-law Sheldon, and with soon to be guides, grandsons Peyton, Hayes, and Kale, and granddaughters Ainsley, Rylee, and Delaney, the fourth generation here on the 7-V Ranch.
Peggy became the center of the operations, making sure that no one left her table hungry. Ross' wife Kelly became a part of the ranch in 1980 and worked alongside Peggy until Peggy retired in 1989. Ross and Kelly's daughter Noli started helping out as soon as she was old enough to see over the table and has continued to be an asset ever since. Kelsey, Chan's wife, joined the family in June 2013 and has become a full time helper as well.
